Bookkeeping Resolutions for 2015

It’s the beginning of a new year. Time for resolutions or intentions to start the year off right. What about your books? Here are a few bookkeeping resolutions I encourage you to make to start your business year off on the right track:

  1. Make a pact to keep your bookkeeping software up-to-date.
Start by updating to the latest release and upgrade to QuickBooks 2015 if you’re using QuickBooks 2012 (or older!).
  2. Pay your taxes on time by meeting with your tax professional before crunch time.  Schedule an appointment now with your tax accountant.  Plan ahead to give yourself a deadline for gathering your tax records.
  3. Finish your 2014 bookkeeping!  It’s time to catch up and review your books.
  4. And, of course, file your W-2s and 1099s by January 31st.
